TIPS ON DRIVING:
There are 3 levels of chain control: R1, R2, and R3.
R1: Chains or tires with snow tread are required.
R2: Chains or 4-wheel drive vehicles with snow tread tires on all 4 wheels required
R3: Chains required on all vehicles. (This is rare--highway usually closed instead)

A tire with snow tread can be identified by a marking "M&S" for "Mud and Snow" rated. Alternatively, tires can have metal studs.
